London has one of the most highly developed mass transit systems in the world, and one of the first with regular service. Britons are rightly proud of this complex interaction of people, machines, and time, even though sometimes it comes to a grinding halt. The marvel that is the London transportation system is exhibited at the London Transport Museum. Housed in what was once Covent Garden, the museum makes use of a section that was formerly a flower market. The great arching ceilings erected in the late 1800's help evoke a sense of a train station where one there were only blooms. In the 1970's, the building was renovated and seems a perfect fit for its current task.
