Your Thoughts

There are two comments.

would be very interested to learn more about the use of Shell-Mex House during the V1 and V2 attacks in WWII. I believe the Special Repair Service squad leaders would sit on the roof watching for the rockets to come over and became very skilled at estimating where the things would land once the engine stopped. The squads would be on their way to the site sometimes before the thing exploded. My father was, I believe, the boss man of these squads but he didn't talk about it much..

The two huge figures on either side of the clock tower were designed and executed by William Charles Holland King who employed a team of Italian stone carvers to rough out the work. He later became President of the Royal Society of British Sculptors
