To most tourists who cross Westminster Bridge the span is rather unremarkable. But those who know and love London know and love this bridge. It is one of more than a dozen bridges that reach across the Thames connecting the south bank to the heart of London. But there are a few features of the Westminster bridge that make it noteworthy. Because of its proximity to Parliament, the bridge is closely linked with the Palace of Westminster. It has the green color of the House of Commons, and the wrought iron detail was done by Charles Barry, the same architect who designed the Parliament building. Quick Facts
